Our Mission . . .

Pink Purse Society, Inc. is a 501c3 not for profit volunteer based organization formed by a group of local women who felt a need to make a difference.  Each month a different member hosts an event to benefit a charity close to their heart.  Pink Purse raises funds, donates items and provides extra support to families, individuals and charities in need.

 About us . . .

Pink Purse was born in September of 2005 when a group of eight women had a desire to make a difference in their community.  Simple guidelines were set.  We meet the last Thursday of each month at a local restaurant.  Each meeting a different member  hosts, and that person decides what support we will provide. In the past few years our arms have reached as far from the women and children in Iraq, to cancer patients, educating our youth, and providing love and support to our own friends and families.  Since our inception, we have grown to over 150 members strong.  Along this journey we have challenged ourselves, been inspired by the joy of giving, experienced loss and realized that at the end of the day. . . We can make a difference.

This Month. . .  Pink Purse is meeting at 6:30pm this Thursday, June 25th at the Oakwood Grill on PGA located at 4610 PGA Blvd, tel: 561 776-5778.

Beni Overbeck is hosting this month to support a good friend who will be speaking and joining us Thursday,  whose child suffers from Aicardi Syndrome.  This syndrome is a rare genetic disorder affecting only little girls characterized by the lack of the corpus collusum, the part of the brain that separates the left and right hemisphere of the brain.

 A note from the host...

 Hello everyone:
Please come and join us for our monthly Pink Purse meeting this Thursday, June 25th, 2009 at Oakwood Grill on PGA Blvd.

This meeting is extra special for me, since I am sponsoring it in an effort to support very special friends, and for a very special cause, Aicardi Syndrome.  Aicardi syndrome is a rare genetic malformation syndrome characterized by the partial or complete absence of the corpus callosum (the part of the brain that separates the left and right hemisphere),  seizures in the form of infantile spasms and by eye abnormalities of the retina.  To date, there are only about 900 cases reported in the United States.

Almost six years ago, when I delivered Leanna, our friends came to meet her in the hospital and it was then that our friends broke the news to us that they too were expecting.  We were very excited!  Little Ava arrived, a beautiful little baby girl in March of 2004.  Unfortunately, a few months later, our friends got the biggest heartbreak when they found out Ava was affected by Aicardi Syndrome.  They have traveled through a very difficult but very rewarding path and every day they are a family that I truly admire.  Their strength and optimism is amazing.  Little Ava has achieved incredible strides and I truly believe that it is because she has the strength and love of both her parents.  However, unlike Ava not every child affected by this syndrome is as blessed as Ava, and therefore, there needs to be more awareness and more support for this cause.

I hope you can all join me in effort to raise more awareness and support a local family.

I thank you for joining us.

Beni Overbeck
